My husband's grandfather was William Joseph Moores b1875 in Manchester we think.
At some time he moved to the Isle of Man where he married a Margaret Jane Ellison in 1895.
The marriage certificate shows his name as William Joseph MOORE but his signature clearly shows MOORES. The family name has continued as Moores. In 1895 would he have been required to register this change and if so where would the records be held. I hope someone can help me in this matter.
