Brian, further to your request for more information earlier in the year.
Thomas Corkish 1858 illegitimate son of Henry Corkish c1818 and Ann JANE Quayle b1834.
I think I have now resolved his history. In 1864 Ann Jane married John Daugherty (also Dougherty b1839 Bride d1897) and at the 1881 census, Thomas aged 22, had taken the name Dougherty. The family, which by that time included a daughter (also Ann) b 1869 and a son John b 1870 (d 1897?) were living at Ballaslig. Thomas reverted back to Corkish.
I also note that Porters directory of Bride 1889 records Thomas Corkish as having a part share in William Daughertys farm at Glentruan., but I am not sure how this connects. All this bears out with family narrative, Thomas was my mothers grandfather and her memory is still spot on, hope it helps.
