A synopsis.
The name was originally De Mesa, There is a king Mesa in old jewish text. Starting in southern Spain some were of Jewish decent. Some of these went direct to Holland others via Portugal.
The first in UK were 2 brothers in the shipping business early 1600's associated with the Dutch east India Co they obtained English citizenship. The first trace of the IOM tree starts with Isaac in the late 1600's in London through papermaker Solomon in Bromley to Chafford mill till late 1800's still papermakers then a branch from William went to IOM.
