The only Charnleys that show up in the 1880 Census on the Isle of Man were in a fishing boat in Douglas, the "Mary Sinclair" out of Lancashire. The Master, Edmondsen Charnley, is listed as being born in Piel Island (Barrow In Furness). By the way, Edmondsen could point to a Norwegian connection...
