After searching the internet ( I live in Merseyside so researching my Manx family is very hard) I have found records of alternative forms of the name Bridson (Brydsonne,McGilbrid) as far back as 1511! The only problem is, I can't get any further back with my family tree than my great-grandfather Arthur Frederick Bridson. AS I mentioned in my last message he was married to Ada Connan (or is it Cannon???). Thanks to the person who responded to my last message but please, any more info on Arthur or Ada's family, or maybe even earlier records of the Bridson/Brydsonne/McGilbrid family ??????????
