As usual, what looks like a simple idea generates more questions than answers.

When most people talk about BMD certificates they are thinking of modern equivalents, i.e. civil registration. We should preserve the distinction between PR entries and certificates.

As I see it there are two areas under discussion.
First to update and complete the IGI, basically pre 1878 information.
Secondly to get indices for post 1878 BDM available on line.

Obviously there are overlaps, e.g. post 1849 non conforming.

Lots of work, not enough bodies.
