I checked last night - the Kirkham is not on the Cd version - I think the Manx Museum paper copy is that of the 1st edition but they may have printed off the CD
Yes by the date he gives you can go back to the newspapers - but for example I used it for a couple of well known wrecks which had social implications - no reference to availability of such info though in some cases it had been quoted verbatim (in the academic world that itself is a hanging offence unless credit given !) but more importantly in one case a later article corrected one of the names - without refs you cannot determine just how thorough a job has been done though I believe he has devoted much time and I think it is an extremely valuable aid (another major offender here was the excellent book by Canon Gelling on Manx Church History - again totally frustrating for those who wish to follow something up - with a paper copy I can understand that costs of printing are of major importance but with a CD (actually on a mini CD) there is 400MB at least available for such refs (even the 'Bibliography' does not deign to give sufficient info to find the book!)
