William Dillon

According to Cubbon his name first appears on an imprint in 1839 when he published a vistors' guide. However he appears as a bookseller in Pigot's directory of 1837. Age is given as 30 in 1841 census where shown with 2 children and wife Christine [Christian in census] Welch (as recorded in baptismal register of Scotch Church [MM microfilm RB512] - further child Mary Elizabeth recorded as baptised 25 April 1844. Cannot be found in 1851 census - Samuel Johnson continued with guide book - possibly by acquiring business ?.

Along with S.S. Rogers bought the Manx Advertiser printing shop on retirement of George Jefferson - sold in 1844 to Lees and Robinson.
