Born Slaithwaite Yorkshire into a musically talented family;
eldest son of Clement Wood, noted amateur musician; brother to Mr.
Hadyn Wood. H Wood first came to the Island at 16 as a member of a
summer orchestra. Later his family moved to the Island . By 26 H.Wood
was musical director at the Derby Castle Ballroom, had his own bijou
orchestra and out of season 'Professor' H. Wood ran a music school
which extended to teaching the violin at King William's College.
Composed many Manx songs and waltzes.
