1 In the chapel-yard, Ballure, on an elevated monument-Here
repose the remains of Margaret, wife of Rev. John Crellin, daughter of John
Frissel, and granddaughter of Deemster Christian, to whom this monument is erected
by her disconsolate husband; not as an addition to her fame-vain were that thought
! but as a testimony, small as it is, of the constant and unfeigned love he
bears to the memory of the best of women and of wives.

The present chapel, dedicated to St. Nicholas, was consecrated 26th August 1858.

6102 acres. Tithe value in 1839, £1085.
Bishop's Court was the residence of Bishop Simon as early as 1230. It bore the name of Orry's Tower in early days. Bishop Wilson planted the trees. Bishop Powys greatly added to the residence, and rebuilt the present chapel, as a memorial to Bishop Wilson. In 1855 he was empowered to expend a sum not exceeding £2000, to be a charge upon the glebe, and to be repaid by instalments extending over thirty years.
In 1860 a further sum of £1000 was granted for the like purpose, and to be repaid in the same manner.
