Spells a nice village, as you may see."
The village of Balla-Salla is situated two miles north of Castletown, and near it are the ruins of Rushen Abbey. It was here, about the year 1781, that Abraham de la Pryme erected the first and only mill in the Isle of Man for spinning and weaving cotton. It was given up in 1791.
