[Moritz] Frhr v. Türckheim-Baden, P.o.W. Douglas, Private[sic Privilege] Camp 3723 Douglas Isle of Man. 6.II.16.[6th February 1916]
To the American Embassy (German Division)
Sir,
I feel compelled to ask your Excellency again, kindly to use your influence for my release on the following reasons
1) I Was taken from a neutral Dutch ship travelling as private passenger from Rotterdam to New York in June 1915. The object of my Journey was to superintend Coffee plantations which Town in southern Mexico, where I have been living and working for the last 20 years. 2) Close internment lasting now for nearly 8 months, has affected my health considerably. I am suffering from bad insomnia which even drugs failed to relieve and I am afraid of a general nervous breakdown. My age is 47 and I am under no military obligation whatever. Being accustomed to active life in a tropical climate, the inforced inactivity and the moist and cold weather here are ruining my constitution. Therefore I hope your Excellency will be kind enough to intervene on my behalf for release, either with permission to go to Germany, or if that should not be possible, to Mexico.
Trustitng that the British Government will consider my case more favorably then before, I wish to thank you for the trouble you are taking an my behalf.
I have the honour to be, most respectfully yours, (Signed) von Türckheim-Baden.

Another internee lifted off a neutral vessel at sea - he is noted as being transferred from Knockaloe to Douglas on 10th September 1915, noted by Madoc as a group of 24 'better class' destined for the Privilege Camp and was fortuneate to be sent to Stratford Camp on 30.October 1916 for repatriation, noted as repatriated on 8th January 1917 - Madoc noted him as Baron von Turckheim - the small 17 strong Douglas group went with another 149 being transferred from Knockaloe to Stratford. Given PoWIB #38768 and is noted as age 47 born at Freiberg i/B. Baden with address Finca San Antonio, Estado de Chiapas, Repulica de Mexico. He was in one of the two large groups [my group D9 or D10] transferred to Knockaloe on the 24th or 25th June 1915 - his camp number at Knockaloe would have been in the range 9900-10700.
