[From Enquest file 1704 p 39]
We whose names are underwitten being sworn as Coroners quest touching the death of Jon Hutchin, miller of Peeltown, have examined and sworn those that were along wth him, who have declared to us that he fell just before the millstone; & the sd millstone run over him, so that we have his fall & the millstone to be the occasion of his death, as witness our hands this 27th of June 1704.

[The] Jury (save Jon Woods who is sick as they say & afirm to me his consent) have delivered this verdict to me. Dan Mcylrea
The most credible story is that the millstone (usually 4ft or more in diameter and a few inches thick) was being rolled, probably by several with the miller guiding the way, possibly between the two mills forming Cooper's mills in Peel.
