G.Farquhar to Duke. Having examined Mr.Heywood's accounts he finds it difficult to do so properly owing to the lack of vouchers and the studied omission of all rules of charging. Also he is unacquainted with the “extravagences with which English attorneys may legally indulge themselves". But, based on "principles that ought to satisfy the avidity even of a knave" he finds Heywood to be owing the Duke £1,800. If this is taken up in the I.O.M. a Manx Lawyer will be needed, and "little Johnny Cosnahan seems to me well calculated by self-conceit,alertness,pertness and disinterestedness to overhaul the account",
