Heywood to G.Farquhar. .He hoped that on his brother's being dismissed the post would have been given to him as he knew the work - having helped his brother - and by his adherence to the Duke's cause had lost all his friends - which was all he had ever got out of the business - As people are now saying that he was as bad as his brother, wheras the Duke knows that in fact he was not in any way to blame,he asks Farquhar to obtain for him from the Duke a statement to this effect,so that he may clear his character. Encloses a list of sundry bills he has paid on the Duke's A/c for wines etc. |
