(He estimates that within the last few years the Revenue has lost between £3,000 and £4,000 per annum through the introduction-of illicit stills,which are extremely difficult to suppress. He also points out that this suggestion has been made by the Lt.Gov.without his being informed of it,and that the reason for it - to obtain funds for the support of prisoners - can easily be achieved in other ways.

Petition to Duke from the inhabitants of Ramsey (Original, with 109 signatures) complaining that certain members of the Keys had induced Christian Curwen M.P. to get a Bill passed in the Commons in connection with the export of corn. That this Act,while beneficial to a small number was injurious to those in the North of the Island and they wished it repealed,and a change made in the basis of election to the Keys so that there should be more members from the North and so prevent such happenings in the future.
