Duke to J.McHutchon(C. Rolls) requesting information as to the conduct to the conduct of Lt.Gov. Smelt and certain proceedings of the Keys, which he thought were being improperly minuted.

McHutchon. to Duke in reply to the the above (which had taken 19 days to reach him) and also giving other information for the benefit of the Duke,who was then in Scotland. States that the road from Castletown to Derbyhaven had been washed away by the sea, and as the houses on it were in danger a strong wall had been built to protect them.

McHutchon to Duke Re an offer to a prisoner (Fargher) to act as executioner of another in the hope that his own sentence would be reduced to transportation - as was done in the case of Quilliam who executed Robt. Kewley.

McHutchon to Duke with queries as to the coming executions of Camaish and Kinread (see No.5 above) Points out that as the Gallows is "on the margin of the River and on gravelly soil" the people of Castletown,who get their water from the river,might not like the idea of having the bodies buried beneath the gallows.
