N.M.) having been burned down by some person he had applied to the Deemster for an enquiry to be held,but had been advised to let the matter drop as the perpetrator of the crime having evidently been a native of no standing no redress could be expected from him nor could he be imprisoned. It was evident,the Deemster said,that he had offended some of the lower classes and he had better not earn further resentment by taking action awainst them as,should he do so he might expect to receive further hurt.
