use his influence on behalf of Mr. Woodhouse ,a merchant of Liverpool and
owner of the Brig "Grampus" The crew of this Brig had retaken from a French prize crew the Spanish vessel "Saint Bernardo",but as she was not carrying Letters of Marque she was not entitled to Prize Money. Mr.Woodhouse however is petitioning for an award and the writers of this petition ask the Duke to support his claim in view of the benefits he has conferred upon the I.O.M. - he having been the first person to erect a red herring house there,and to introduce the Yarmouth method of curing herrings. |
