The EXAMINATION of Mr. MICHAEL CULLEN, Searcher of Douglas, taken at Douglas, in the Isle of Man, the 28th Day of September, 1791
[Examined by the Duke of Atholl.]
The Examinant saith, that he has resided in this Island from September 1765, in the Capacity of Searcher at the Port of Douglas.--That the Herring Custom of Ten Shillings a Boat is collected annually.--He does not know or ever heard of any Instance where the Collection of this Custom has been the Means of detecting or preventing illicit Practices.--He believes from the Nature of his Office, he should have heard of any such Instance, if it had existed
