There is a sketch by J M Nicholson of part of the mill
(the junction between the two buildings)held by Manx Museum which appears
be one of a number of such studies done in early 1880s.

On the upper reach of the Groudle river below the Bowring woollen mill - the latter had its water rights purchased by the Douglas Water Works Co in 1879 once the Clypse reservoir was completed, they already owned the Groudle Mill at the seaward end of the river and it seems they also purchased the rights to this mill about the same time. Milling in Manxland states that wheel from one of these mills was that used in the 'toy' mill constructed at Groudle where it was used supposedly to drive a generator for the lights below the hotel
