[taken from Chapter 3 Manx Worthies, A.W.Moore, 1901]
All we know of him is derived from the following inscription in St. Mary's Chapel, Castletown: " Daniel Callow Esq., H.K. who, in discouraging circumstances, cheerfully accepted a commission to attend the business of his country in the South of England, where he died, zealously engaged in the duty of that appointment, June 18th, 1790, aged 39. As a grateful testimony of their respect for his virtues public spirit, and services the House of Keys, with others of his countrymen and friends, have caused this monument to be erected."
