[From History of IoMSPCo, 1904]
We believe that an account of so remarkable an undertaking as the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company cannot fail to be of interest, and we have therefore endeavoured to put together some of the information we have gleaned about it from various sources. We call it a remarkable Company, because, in the first place, we are informed that there is only one other Company the City of Dublin Steam Packet Companywhich has traded, uninterruptedly and by steam alone, between the same ports for a longer period and because, in the second place, it has conducted its business almost entirely without loss of life and serious accident. " Its record," says a writer in the Liverpool Daily Post (a), " is unmatched in the whole of shipping industry.'
