INTRODUCTION,

THE greater portion of the following pages have appeared in the columns of THE MANX SUN, and, in compliance with the request of legal and commercial gentlemen, and large numbers of readers of the newspaper, the publishers have issued the report of the Great Bank Trial in the form in which it is here presented. A portion of the account of the Trial was printed hurriedly, without careful revision, and doubtless a few inaccuracies will be discovered. These will be duly corrected in a Second Edition. The publishers beg to thank several gentlemen who have kindly revised the proofs.
