[From Letters of Bishop Hildesley]

Letter III

June 16, 1760.

I thought to have answered your letter in person, having received intelligence of your desion to have been over here this day.

I somewhat wonder that Mr Lewhellin's son should have neglected my advice: to attend the first confirmation he could meet with, whilst he was in England, without the necessity of applying to me for a private one. However, at your request, if he will come to Bishopscourt, which I choose should be on some Sunday or holiday, he shall be gratified.

I am obliged to you for your concern for my health; which indeed has been much shaken and impaired of late: and yet I was loth to forego the engagement I was under to perform duty at Ramsey on Sunday, but three times a day in that way is a sort of labour, which, from long use, is not so apt to fatigue as any other. Two or three more such shocks as I have had within this fortnight, would probably bid fair to help this Church and clergy of Mann to a more able Diocesan than your present unworthy Friend and Bro.
