Gives the gross postal receipts each year from 1865, the highest in 1874 being £5,327/9/521. The telegraph business was commenced by the Post Office on 20th August, 1870, and reached £1,797 in 1874. The postal expenditure in 1874 was £2,951/14/2, and, on account of telegraph alone, £644/0/8.
