The trouble is, as explained in my little tutorial above, Ballacregga was a property of heirship, and the widow has NO POWER to affect its transmission unless she had bought her son John's rights off him. That would make the land a chattel and she could do as she would wish by will or settlement. I'll wait and look at the deed with interest.
