By the sound of it, from Nigel's detailed explanation, my assessment that the sale to the advocate of Ballaleece and then sale back to Ann Casement was to resolve the problem over inherited land that could not be willed away.
The whole episode now makes good sense and explains why Ann, a younger daughter of the Manx-Irish Casement family of Ballinderry, Co Antrim, was one of the wealthiest of her siblings.
