There is a wm noted in Malew register to Wm Benson + Ann Dawson - I could not find any marriage (nor any later children) of this couple - the only earlier note of Benson is also in Malew - the baptism of a Wm to Mr Peter Benson esquire + Mrs Elizth Hamilton - the esq + Mrs indicate somme social standing - again no marriage nor any other children - there are no benson burials until 1805 thus my guess is that your family derives from England or Scotland. There are several Bensons noted from c.1800 as though a couple with young children had immigrated c.1790.
