I am the Great Granddaughter of Elizabeth Kewley b. 1841 daughter of Thomas Kewley.

I have had many mysteries surrounding Elizabeth but Elizabeth Mills message I think has sorted some of my queires out. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas but lived with stepdad James by 1851!

Please can anyone give me more information.

How does Elizabeth Mills know that Elizabeth was referred to as Betsy?

Was this Thomas Kewley a shoemaker?

I am still confused with Ann Corris

In the 1841 census she is with Thomas Kewley aged 50, she is 25.

In the 1851 census she is married to James Kewley.

But in the 1881 census she is with Thomas again. Thomas aged 89 and Ann aged 65. the 25 year aged gap is quite unusual so I am convinced it is the same couple.

Please can anyone explain this to me? I am pretty sure we have the same Thomas.

I have Elizabeths marriage certificate, she was married 15 Nov 1868 to John Pickering in Liverpool. Her father was Thomas a shoemaker.

She died 1882 in Birkenhead, Cheshire.

I would be very grateful for any information I can get on the Kewley Family. I know Kewley is a very commom name in the IOM but this is the only Elizabeth that fits the information I have. i.e. father Thomas and date of birth.
