Many thanks for the response Elizabeth- it kind of took me by suprise after such a long time, I could not recall the original post , in fact.
It will take some time for me to absorb the information as I am rather busy at present.
Catherine Christian Kewley was my grandmother, and my father, Philip Harris Shimmin, was presumably named after Jane and Harry's family, as they do not seem to have had children, but I have not, so far, been able to trace the Irish connection.
I have a copy of Catherine's wedding to my grandfather, a studio portrait of her, and a signature on a legal document, along with a photocopy (from Liz) and a transcription of James Kewley's will, if any of these are of interest to you.
