Peter there must have been a misunderstanding about
phptocopying letters---as you say the letters are in a ledger /bound book in frail condition. After ordering it to be
brought downstairs from the Archives it was put on one of
those enormous cushions to protect the binding which is already badly damaged. Valuable books-- even much newer ones are never put in machines.
Page 93 /from Whitehall 19 March 1835 is a letter of instruction forTransportation for 2 convicts to be brought to Woolwich for medical examination to see if free from disease & fit to undergo voyage to New South Wales orVan Dieman's Land. A statement was to be delivered about prisoner's crime, age, married or unmarried,trade.behaviour in prison before & after trial from the Gaoler.They must be properly clothed.
