If William Crennel or his father were Rechabites there is a possibilityof finding a few extra details through the records of this friendly society. If the records of the "Mona Fellowship" tent (lodge) of Ramsay are preserved (check with Alan Franklinf at the MNH Library) you might find the following information on a member: name, occupation, date of birth (as opposed to baptismal record) and date of admission, what he paid in premiums for sick pay insurance and funeral benefits. In addition the death of a Rechabite member was given a special announcement in a local newspaper. (Funeral announcements were uncommon for ordinary folk in the early part of the 20th century in the Isle of Man).
You might also check to see whether any of his children became adult members. (Don't know whether any juvenile tent records were preserved).
