Re: Electronic Compendium
In Response To: Re: Electronic Compendium ()

Dear Ms. Clegg,

Perhaps, the way I see it, it tis an ELETRONIC COMPENDIUM, in that is transcribed history placed on a computer web site instead of book form, A MANX NOTEBOOK, AN ELECTRONIC COMPENDIUM OF MATTERS PAST AND PRESENT CONNECTED WITH THE ISLE OF MAN, of course I shall state, it is a note book, whereby, you can pull a wealth of information from, but shall say to me, it is an electronic compendium by nature, for it serves the computer generations as a service of being able electronically to turn on their computer and the data is at their disposal, whereas in a Library this would be data by books,CD's and so for me, it is truly an electronic compendium that has volumes of knowledge at my fingertips, and I am ever grateful for this . Once I found out my people were from the Isle of Man, I wanted to know all I could about the history of the Isle and all that goes with it, life on the Isle , RELIGION, POLITICS, FAMILY LIFE,LANGUAGE, FAMOUS MANX MEN, ALL THAT GOES with the know of any lands or peoples that I have a link to. I have dug very hard to find my roots , WITH HELP FROM MANY FAMILY MEMBERS, and Ms. Coakley has helped me tremendously, I had to learn to share, which this board has taught me, for I was not a sharer, I have done so much work in AMERICA, to find my people with a genealogist. I feel the Isle of Man is in my blood now, and I can't get it out. I now know how much more than I ever could imagine, I am a history lover also, although I chose the legal field, I want to see the soil my ancestors walked on, worked the allotments, and made their living and worshipped at the BALLAUGH PARRISH, OLD CHURCH, and I want to sit on the pews, know that maybe I can feel their presence, and see If I can find Philip's gravestone, and go to BALLACAINE. Ms. Coakley's electronic compendium makes you thirst for more and more, like the Bible when I pick it up to study, there is so much you learn each time when you read it, you just cannot put it down, that is how her Electronic Compendium is, you want more and more, you cannot just stop, at least for me that is the way it is, ADAM CAIN, was not an easy soul to find, and he sure is not an easy soul to finish, as my NATHANIEL CAIN here in AMERICA, but he was found, with a deep winnowing fork, but he finished my line in AMERICA, now I want to find out what happened to JONEY, AND MARGERET and all the CAINE'S, CAIN'S, KOYNE'S, McCATHAIN'S, CORLETT'S, GAWN'S. CLARKES'S, CARRAN'S, THE QUGGIN'S, I have only touched the tip of the iceberg, I have so many trees to finish and now with the ADAM CAIN marriage, that tree may have to be completely redone, it is a genealogist paradise to go to the Electronic Compendium , I had dabbled in it, here and there since coming to this board, but when I actually started finding out so much data and infomation and history, you cannot but keep going back and back again, God knows one day we may have this Compendium to come back too, so I glean all I can , even late hours of the night, I do wish it was all put in book form ,so we could purchase it or CD form, it would preserved for sure and we could have it as reference and study guide it and a read for pleasure, for many things are so pleasureable to read in it also, well, enough, surely If I OFFENDED, please forgive, for perhaps this MANX/AMERICAN descendant thinks through different eyes, half MANX, half AMERICAN, no harm, or offense, I pray.

Yours kindly,

Mrs. Jonnie Rosa
