I don't recognise Cronk y Cheeney at all, but I have seen reference to Close y Callow (Close a Callow in JJ Kneen 1925). Any 'Close' is liable to have been enclosed land at the edges of original farm boundaries. Most are down in the Curragh where new farm land was created by drainage, but some are extensions of farms up towards the moorland. I'll keep looking!
