I started a project to map all of the various farms and other properties on the Island on maps.live.com based on a combination of the 1873 old series OS and the 1976 OS maps.

I've have completed all parishes from German to Maughold moving clockwise around the island. Please keep in mind several points:

- The parish borders may or may not be precise. The drawing tool is difficult to use and the printed maps I am using make it difficult to determine exactly where the border is at some points on the maps, particularly where geographic features such as elevation lines for glens or steep ridges crowd the area. There are also a couple of minor mistakes which I left because in order to correct I would have had to redraw the entire border and each border took about a half hour to draw. Also, the borders are only labeled for one of its parishes. So, for example, the southern boundary of Kirk Michael is labeled "Kirk Michael Boundary" while the labeling of Kirk German border ends where it meets up with the Michael border. This was done simply for expediency.

- I began adding additional information, mostly from Frances' "Balla what?" page. This is only complete for German, Michael, Ballaugh and Jurby. (an interesting thought here - if we could somehow make this "additional information" modifiable by everyone, we could post a chronological list of inhabitants - I'll check into this if it sounds like a good idea)

- I am sure there are mistakes regarding the location of some places. There were several that I used an approximate location based on how the roads and geographic features are situated today in the satellite photos vs. what is shown on the printed maps. There are several places completely obscured by trees, so my location is best guess.

I didn't intend to share this here until I completed it, but due to other commitments, I'm not going to be able to complete the project for several months or a year, so for everyone's benefit, I wanted to share what I have so far. Please post any changes made to the maps to this forum so they can be agreed to by consensus.
