Re: Kneale roots
In Response To: Re: Kneale roots ()

Dear Frances,
Thank you for your message re.Amelia Francis Neale. I don't know what an intra mural burial is. The information I have varies on surname spelling and birth year, I am happy to send it to you to see if you can make any sense of it! A summary follows.
.

1.The death cert. of Amelia Francis Kneale, my GGGM.
She is buried in Toxteth Cemetry with her sister Ann Galliard and Ann,s son Charles James Galliard in section E right grave 127.
On this cert her age was 73 which would make the widow of George Kneale, a carpenter.

2.The 1851 census shows an Amelia Neal with a 5 month old daughter. Tracing this birth I found that the baby was called Amelia and the mother was Amelia Kneale.

The birth was in Liverpool workhouse on 16th. Nov. 1850, which was also the hospital then, the age of the mother on the birth cert.( copy enclosed) and in the census was 21, birth year 1829.

The ages of these two Amelias do not match.
The only birth records I can find close to Amelia Francis Kneale is that of Amelia Frances Neale christened on 19 / 10 / 1828 in Douglas IOM, father Joseph Ware and mother Jane Neale. There is also an Amelia Christian Kneale born 30 / 03 / 1839 in Lezare IOM, father John Robert Kneale and mother Mary Anne Kneale, but A Christian K does not follow through with later census records, all in Liverpool.
1861 census she is Amelia Neil,born 1832
1871 census she is Amelia Neill, born 1833
1881 census she is Amelia Kneale, born 1833
1891 census she is Amelia Kneale, born1839
1901 census she is Amelia Kneale, born 1835
1911 census she is Amelia Kneale, born 1839?
Quite a puzzling lot of facts.
I tend to go with Amelia Francis Kneale,d 1912 L/pool being Amelia Francis Neale b 1829 IOM.
Thanks for your interest.
Regards, Bill.
