Re: clarke [ german ]
In Response To: clarke [ german ] ()

Hi Liz
Thankyou for taking the trouble to help me

If I can give my reasoning behind thinking this William Clark may be mine

There was a WC born 1803 Living Malew to John Clarke and Margaret Kewley

in the 1841 Census I can't make out the address

Margaret Clarke 63
William 38 Farmer
Margaret 30
John 20
William 6
John Skelly 23

so I am guessing the child is William and Margarets
so they possibly would have married around
1834 but I cannot find a Marriage around that date

This is the one that is mine WC born 1804 Kirk Michael
to Alice Cowley and William Clark
That is definate

In the 1841 Census Loves Lane Peel

William 34 Baker
Margaret 36
William 14
Robert 12
David 10
Philip 8
Ann 6
Charles 3

Going Off the age of the eldest child they could have married around 1826

There is a William Clark & Margaret Leece listed in 1826 in Malew which throws me a little
But I can't see it being the other couple as there is such a big gap between the marriage and the birth of the 6 year old

Plus The Clarke family had lived in Peel for quite some time

Also I have found a reference from Frances' Notebook " Old Peel part ii Castle Street Re Toddy Fitzpatrick who lived in Love Lane
He was Charlotte Clarks Father in Law Charlotte was the sister of William

Please let me know what you think

Many Thanks Lesley
