Re: Thomas Cottier
In Response To: Re: Thomas Cottier ()

Gosh you and your friend in the U.S. have been busy, I am 90% certain this is my Thomas, but I have a birth date for young Thomas Lawson Cottier, who was born in the U.S, of 20th Dec 1841, so either this birth date is wrong, the census must have been taken very late in the year for him to have been included, also I thought Thomas was a joiner by trade, but again I could be wrong. Thomas emigrating without his wife Mary figures as she gave birth in 1836 to a daughter Mary Ann, but I presume she died as I have found no record of her, the was an elder daughter Catherine, but she is shown on the Ballaugh Register for Aug 1836, age 2, so Mary could have been having a rough time that year. I know who my Thomas is, but it's tying him in with James and Catherine when the other Thomas, born 1812 and married 1838, keeps popping up, who also claims the same parents. I've located my local Family History Centre and shall be ring them tomorrow, they appear to only open on Mondays. Once again thank you for your help, it's most appreciated.
