I've had a look at possible parents for John Corkhill, too, Frances. My guess is Peter Corkhill and Mary Creer---son John bap 13th April 1834 ( also a son Edward bap 7th June 1840.)

In the 1881 Fancy Street entry, John's age of 47 gives a likely birth date of 1834. In 1891, the family is Cumberland, Harrington, District 4, page 10. John gives his age as 54, and is an engine fireman, wife Jane age 50, sons John J age 14 and Thomas age 11, all born IOM, plus Frances age 8 born Harrington, Cumberland.

!n 1871, likely candidates for John (34) and Jane (28) are in Lonan with John's father, Peter (81) widower, farmer, no children yet. Jane is entered as "daughter in law" in the "occupation" column, but as daughter in the "relationship" column.
