It is essential to realise how we have been influenced by these "Givens" of Manx culture. I got my Kneen's Place-Names as a school prize in 1975 and its nearly worn out - personal names is less well-thumbed.
We need to seriously challenge what has been written and not take it as gospel because it came off a press.
