Averil, I think this will be a different John Fell. I'm with Kay that the John Fell bp 27 Dec 1846 St Matthews will be the one buried at age 6 months 24 Jun 1847 at Onchan (son of John James FAYLE/FELL, grandson of Charles FAYLE and Esther GELLING). So he's not your guy.
I hunted through the census's and there's a John Fell age 28 in 1881 a lead miner at 6 Balldooin Road, Lonan with wife Catherine age 30 and 4 children age 10 to 5. In 1891 they're 39 and 40, with 3 children at 50 Balldooin Road. William and Jane KNEALE are next; perhaps Catherine's parents. Unfortunately, birthplace is just "Isle of Man' in both census's. For 1901 it seems Catherine Fayle is widowed age 50 born Andreas at Ballacowin road Lonan, with her 12 year old son Wilfred H.
In 1871 at Baldooin with Thomas Kinnish is a John Fell farm servant Married age 20 born "Isle of Man". His wife "Chatrine Fell" married 20 Domestic Servant is with her parents William and Jane Kneale. Perhaps her first child was about to be born.
I had no luck finding him in 1861, when he'd be about 9.
