Re: Skinners from Bride
In Response To: Skinners from Bride ()

Hello Craig, We have both Skinner and Vondy in our Garrett tree. John Garrett (son of John Garrett and Elizabeth Crow) married 31-may 1864 to Catherine Skinner at Andreas. Catherine was christened at Bride.Catherine was the daughter of William Skinner (farmer) and Catherine Vondy who were married at Andreas 11 Feb 1841. John and Catherine named a son Alan Vondy Garrett. I photo copied an obituary notice in the Ramsey courier 18 July 1922 stating that Mrs Catherine Garrett was laid to rest Sunday last (12 July 1922) amongst her own peaple in Bride church yard. her oft often expressed and almost last wish was fulfilled.
We also have connections with Regaby Ballacowle.John Garrett and Elizabeth were farming at Regaby Ballacowle in the 1841 census, In the 1851 census they were farming 22 acres . In 1867 John and Elizabeth died. The 1871 census has his son Thomas and his wife Christian S als (Kelly) farming 35 acres Regaby Ballacowle. Christian is the daughter of Charles Kelly of Bride (farmer) and Esther Cowley of Bride. ref 1881 census gives Esther Cowley, Mother in Law widow 80. In 1891 they were at Ballacurn Keil Ballaugh and in 1901 at 14 Ballagick Santon. Regards Pauline
