Re: Jane Kermeen
In Response To: June Kermeen ()

Where was her marriage? If you buy the cert it should have her father's name and occupation. It wasn't in Maughold at the date you gave, so I can't help you there. Nor on Brian Lawson's IoM marriage index:
www.iomfhs.im/lawsons/marriages/q_mar.html

The 1861 Maughold census has:
1 91 Port E Vullin
John KERMEEN Head MAR 60 Carrier Maughold
Jane KERMEEN Wife MAR 64 Maughold
Jane KERMEEN Daughter UNM 29 Maughold
Robert KERMEEN Son UNM 22 Sailor Maughold
John KERMEEN Grandson 5 Scholar Maughold
Jane COWLEY G Daughr 3 Scholar Maughold

Could this be Jane Kermeen her mother, aged 29, and Jane aged 3 being given her father's surname as was usual in the IoM? Sometimes they would have the father's name in one census and the mother's in another.

In 1871 Jane Kermeen aged 14 is a servant in Maughold, Port Lewaigue Cottage, in the household of George Goulden. Six entries away from John Kermeen widower aged 66 and his grandson John Kermeen 15, at Port E Vullin.
