I have been reading with interest the messages posted about the name Bankes I.O.M.
I too have this name in my family history.

My gr.gr.gr.grandfather, Richard Bankes was born 1828 in Marley, Cheshire. He had a daughter, Elizabeth born 1851, who married William Kewley b. 1846 son of Thomas Kewley born 1814 in Braddan, I.O.M.

I would be interested if anybody has any connection with them.
