Re: Australian will/Manx beneficiary

Thanks for that Sue - and Julie. The Jane Cavendish who died in Victoria in 1894 did seem to be too old for 'my' Jane, and the only other information on the record was last residence. I don't know if she had a second name - I've only seen her name recorded in the 3 references I've posted, and it was definitely only Jane in Jurby baptisms. There are a number of Jane Catherines and Catherine Janes, but I've no evidence to suggest she was one of them.

I suppose I have to accept that some of the Australian Cavendishes may be of English descent, although you'd think if they were of noble origin they would know about it - the Cavendish contact I made a couple of years ago through Genes Reunited didn't want to pursue her origins too seriously 'in case' she was related to a despised aristocracy! I'm not aware of any missing Thomases from 1830, but it is certainly interesting.

I have previously found on proarchives.imagineering.com.au/index_search_results.asp Unassisted Immigration to Victoria, Index of Inward Passenger Lists for British, Foreign and New Zealand Ports 1852-1923:

Family Name, First Name, Age, Month, Year, Ship, Port, Fiche, Page
CORJEAG ---- MRS 29 JUN 1912 ASCANIUS B 849 002
CORJEAG O MR 31 JUN 1912 ASCANIUS B 849 002

Which it would be very interesting to find out more about!

Going off at a tangent, I have seen mention of a 'Ballalona Deer Stud Farm' in Victoria - Ballalona is the name of the long-standing Corjeag home in Kirk Michael, and I am curious to know how this farm came to have this name.

All that aside, I would still love to track down Jane someday!
