Thanks Frances
I think I will have to make a visit to Manchester as I don't think they will look it up for me without a visit.
I was puzzled by your comment about the baptisms as I have Wesleyan baptisms for 4 of William's children in 1808. 1810. 1819 and 1821 - all from the IGI. These were in Liverpool, New Mills (Derbyshire) and Kendal. Do you know if this was only customary in the Isle of Man? (baptising in the parish church)
I am puzzled why William had one of his children christened twice (both Wesleyan baptisms), and why he had his 1 year old son baptised at Liverpool in 1819 but didn't get his 3 year old daughter baptised at the same time and waited until she was 4 years old. I am also wondering if the daughter might have been baptised somewhere else 4 years earlier but doesn't show on the IGI. He also seems to have married twice - it is a real puzzle working it all out. I definitely need to find out where he was each year. If you know anything about the reason for double baptisms I would be grateful for any ideas. It was definitely the same child as the same birth date was given each time (it wasn't a child dying and the name being used again)
