Kennaugh/Woods Help

My name is William Kennaugh and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA.

My grandmother, Amy Kennaugh (nee Woods) was born in Douglas in 1880. Her husband, William, died at the age of 38 in Birkenhead, England. He also was born in Douglas and was a postman.

My grandparents left Douglas shortly after their 1901 marriage at St. Thomas Church, IOM. They went to Barrow-in-Furness probably for work. They bore 3 children in Barrow...my father, WilliamWoods Kennaugh born 3/1905, Ethel born 11/1907 and died in a Barrow fire in 3/1908, and James Kennaugh born 12/1909. My grandmother and the 2 boys moved to Douglas probably after 1913, the year of her husband's death.

Grandmother and boys sailed from Liverpool in 7/1922 on the Montrose and arrived in Quebec, Canada on 8/4/1922 on their way to their new home in San Francisco, California. The last leg of the journey was on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Grandmother's brother, Albert Woods, immigrated from Douglas to San Francisco in 1903. I do not have the name of his ship.

I have absolutely no people connections with any Kennaugh's or Woods' in the IOM. I am planning a trip in 5/08 primarily to gather genealogy information and, to the extent possible, "track their footsteps."

I would love to connect with any "ancestor's"
with whom I can share information . It would add a new dimension to my trip. My daughter and wife will be with me to share this experience.

My grandmother Amy was born as Amy Woods. Her parents were Mary Ann Cannell and William Woods who was a Master Mariner.

My grandfather, William Kennaugh, was born to Eleanor Kennaugh (nee: Holden) and William Kennaugh.

I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE HEARING FROM YOU IF YOU CAN BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER.

Thanking you in advance,
William Edward Kennaugh (age 71)
