You might be lucky with your FHC, but in Australia they won't let you order films over the phone so it means at least two trips - to order, and to view as many times as you like over a month, if on short loan. They ring when the film(s) come in and let you book a reader and the dates/times to use it. How much you can get through depends on what you are looking for on the film, and how long you have been allowed to book the film reader for.
- Make it as long as possible to get the best use of your time, and ask for a large screen one if they have them. Most FHCs let you order about 6 films at a time.
Most FHCs have a freely available permanent collection of CDs, fiche, and films, as well as online access to Ancestry etc. so there is plenty to do there on the day you go in to order the first lot of films. Ring them in advance and ask about booking a computer/CD reader for when you are there.
