Nothing found on the Farmhouse but some history on the lighthouse. (perhaps the lighthouse or the mine workings had some link to the old farmhouse)

Langness literally means "long promontory" in Old Norse. At one time an island, Langness was eventually joined to the mainland by the movement and deposition of material along Castletown Bay to form a tombolo.

Didn't Mr Clarkson of motoring fame buy the buildings at Langness Lighthouse!

Mr Matheson was appointed Inspector of Works on 18 June 1879 with pay at rate of 10/6d per day with 10/- per week for lodging and travelling expenses.

The lighthouse tower was completed ahead of schedule and the light was first exhibited on Wednesday, December 1880. Many changes have occurred since then.

Fog Signal was discontinued in 1987.The Station was automated in 1996.
